Career Work Experience Pathway (CWEP)These courses are designed to help students acquire a variety of skills and concepts that will lead to increased independence in school, at home, and in the community. Specifically, students will gain vocational skills, self-help/practical living skills, and communication skills. In addition, academic skills are reinforced and supported in this class. Students will acquire these skills through interactions with their peers and teacher in resource, collaborative, small and whole group settings as well as community based instruction.

Community Based Instruction (CBI)Providing your son/daughter with an opportunity to travel into the community and work on real-world skills is essential to a comprehensive education. Schedules will be sent home at least monthly that detail our outings. I do my very best to choose sites that will allow us to work on generalizing a variety of skills and that do not cost money (for the most part.) To work on all skills though, we will at times visit sites/ participate in activities that cost money. Unfortunately, a school fee waiver will not cover the cost of “optional” trips; this would include eating out and some recreation/leisure activities. If you have any concerns about CBI, please do not hesitate to let me know!
